WILLISTON, N.D. – The following are new progress updates regarding ongoing summer construction projects throughout the City of Williston.
18th Street Water Main
The water main replacement project along 18th Street is nearing completion.
Wagner Construction replaced the existing 12-inch diameter water main pipe from the 1960’s with modern PVC 16-inch diameter pipe.
Knife River is completing the surface-level work as part of the mill and overlay project from Davidson Drive to University Avenue.
As of Monday, August 10, the intersection of 18th Street and University is now open for north and south traffic only.
Knife River will mill and overlay the remainder of 18th Street, from Davidson Drive to 2nd Avenue West, through the rest of this week.
Once complete, the entirety of 18th Street will be open to thru traffic. Ancillary work, including striping and raising manholes with concrete diamonds, will take place under traffic.
16th Avenue West & 26th Street
Gravel is in place at the intersection of 16th Avenue West and 26th Street as of August 11 and Knife River concrete crews are scheduled to pour curb and gutter on Thursday, August 13.
The intersection will then be paved and is scheduled to reopen barring any extreme weather delays on August 18. At that time, the intersection will be open for east and west traffic only on 26th Street.
The 16th Avenue block between 25th and 26th Streets will remain closed until the existing storm sewer is upgraded.
BEK Consulting is continuing work on the 42nd Street sewer at 16th Avenue working west toward 32nd Avenue West. Once this is complete, BEK will drop back and begin the water line.
4th Avenue West
Phase I is complete. Teraflex laid an initial layer of asphalt and poured gutters and curbs in the areas of Broadway, 4th Street West and 4th Avenue West between 2nd and 4th Streets.
Phase II involves water line and sewer work between 3rd Avenue West and 5th Avenue West. The underground process is scheduled to take two to three weeks.
East Broadway & 7th Avenue East
Knife River has poured all mainline concrete in the area. Road signage and striping will be installed in the next two weeks.
Spearfish has completed the 34th Street water and sewer lines up to Frontage Road West and is continuing its work on the 34th Street storm sewer.
The connection across Frontage Road was paved on Saturday, August 8 and is now open.
