Williston Fire Department celebrates promotions and newest recruit class

Promotion and Recruit Class - April 2021-InstaWILLISTON, N.D. – The Williston Fire Department (WFD) is proud to announce the upcoming promotional ceremony and the graduation of its 5th recruit class this Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, April 16, WFD will recognize the following individuals on their newly promoted positions:

  • Lieutenant Clint Bates to the position of Captain
  • Lieutenant Patrick Sellers to the position of Captain
  • Firefighter/EMT Mitch Byman to the position of Engineer
  • Firefighter/EMT Josh Larson to the position of Engineer
  • Firefighter/EMT Jared Mackley to the position of Engineer
  • Firefighter/EMT Wade Gammell to the position of Engineer

A short ceremony will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Fire Station 2 located at 610 58th Street West to recognize the advancement of these six WFD personnel. Battalion Chief Brad Auttelet will be the key speaker.

On Saturday, April 17, WFD will celebrate the graduation of Recruit Class 2020 0406.

Upon graduation, the following six individuals will have successfully completed all requirements needed to be awarded the rank of Firefighter-Emergency Medical Technician (EMT):

  • Jackson Fox
  • Alex Hernandez
  • Russell Wold
  • Grant Niskanen
  • Julia Crisman
  • Bianca Alvarado

“The men and women of the 2020 0406 recruit class have continually gone above and beyond for our department,” emphasized Division Chief of Operations, Matt Clark. “We are proud to have them join our ranks and look forward to seeing them grow in the fire service.”

The WFD Fire Academy spans a year and covers the following training areas: Firefighter I and II, Hazmat Awareness and Operations, Airport Firefighter, and EMT.

A short ceremony will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Fire Station 2 located at 610 58th Street West to recognize the six newest WFD members. Key speakers will include Division Chief of Operations, Matt Clark; Training Captain, Justin Champion; and Pastor Travis Ward.

Media is invited to attend both events following COVID-19 screening and social distancing guidelines. Masks are required for the duration of the ceremony.
