You might not have had it out on time, or a vehicle might be parked in the way. You can call Public Works at 701.577.6368 to reschedule a different collection time.
Where can I find the street sweeping schedule?
You can contact the Public Works office at 701.577.6368. The schedule is also posted on the website and on the City of Williston Facebook page and Instagram.
Why hasn't my road been plowed?
In the event of a major winter event, City of Williston Public Works will plow emergency through streets first, beginning with routes to the hospital and fire stations.
There are approximately 30 avenues and 25 streets that make up Williston’s emergency through streets. Public Works will prioritize highest traffic and population areas first.
Following emergency through streets, Public Works will haul snow from the downtown area, 11th Street, and Million Dollar Way. However, if heavy snow returns, the emergency through streets will become priority once again.
Please be aware, that snow emergency routes will be plowed or hauled after any single snow event with an accumulation of three inches or more.
As a reminder, all trailers, boats, campers, etc. found parked on the street in designated emergency snow routes are subject to citation. If your vehicle is parked on a snow emergency route during a winter weather event it should be moved immediately.
Who do I contact if I have water or sewer issues?
Where are the compost containers located?
There are 3 locations in the city for leaves and grass composting ONLY (no bags).
- Corner of 5th St E & 8th Ave E (across the street on the west side of old Public Works)
- Western Star Ball Complex - 19th Ave W & 15th St W
- Rickard Elementary School - 14th St E & 2nd Ave E
Please do not throw branches into these bins! Doing so ruins the whole load and defeats the purpose of composting.
If you bring leaves to the bins in bags, you can dispose of your bags in the 300-gallon container at the sites.
These containers are available throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons and are removed for the winter.
Monitor the City of Williston website, Facebook page, and Instagram for information related to the removal and placement of the compost containers.
Where can I dispose of branches?
If you have branches, you can dispose of them at the City Landfill (5176 134th Avenue NW) where it costs $20 a ton or a minimum of $5.20. You can also take your compost (leaves and grass) to the landfill free of charge!
You can also bundle branches in 3-4 foot sections. These must be bound together and light enough for one person to pick up.
Place your bundles on the boulevard and call sanitation (701.577.6368) to let them know you have a pick up.
