Building Permits
Building permit fees for new structures are based on the square footage of the structure.  Our office follows a formula using the national average for price per square foot and a multiplier for the type of construction.  When submitting an application for a new structure, please DO NOT submit payment at that time.  The building permit is to be paid for at the time of issuance.

The fee for remodeling projects is based on the value of the job.  (material and labor)

$50,001.00 - $100,000.00                                $414.50 for the first $50,000.00 plus $4.50 for each
                                                                           additional $1,000.00

$100,001.00 - $500,000.00                              $639.50 for the first $100,000.00 plus $3.50 for each
                                                                           additional $1,000.00

$500,001.00 - $1,000,000.00                           $2,039.50 for the first $500.000.00 plus $3.00 for
                                                                           each additional $1,000.00

$1,000,001.00 and up                                      $3,539.50 for the first $1,000,000 plus $2.00 for
                                                                           each additional $1,000.00

 

Plumbing Permits
Permit - $25.00
Each Inspection - $10.00
Each fixture - $5.00

Fuel or Gas Piping Permits
The permit fee is $35.00 and an inspection needs to be called before MDU will connect the gas service.

Mechanical Permits
Residential dwellings per unit up to a maximum of 4 units - $25.00
Commercial, industrial and institutional - $100.00

**Plumbing and heating contractors MUST be licensed with the State of North Dakota AND the City of Williston before they can do any work within the city limits.
