STORM WATER POLLUTION PREVENTION
As part of the Clean Water and Safe Drinking Water Acts, the City of Williston has enacted an illicit discharge to the storm sewer ordinance. This ordinance prohibits discharges of non-storm water or non-potable/clean water to the City’s storm sewer system.
All storm water that runs down the gutter or enters the City’s drainage system eventually reaches the waters of the Missouri River and Lake Sakakawea. Anything that we put into the drainage system can adversely affect the quality of these receiving waters and limit our ability to use and enjoy them. The City of Williston is permitted by the North Dakota Department of Health / EPA for storm water discharges.
You as a citizen can help prevent storm water pollution by eliminating illicit discharges to the storm sewer and report any observed violations to 577-6368.
